Position as at 29 October 2026. Queensland's small and family business grants schedule, last updated 26 October 2026, shows two grants open for applications, both under Round 3 of the Secure Communities Partnership Program.[1] Everything else on the schedule is either closed or not yet open.
Open now
Small business security grants. $1,500 to $20,000, excluding GST, for alarms, access control, surveillance, security lighting, physical security and, for the first time, security on mobile business assets such as work vehicles, trailers and carts.[2] You pay 50% of the eligible cost. You need 19 or fewer employees, turnover of $10 million or less in 2025-26, at least a year of trading, an active ABN, GST registration and a Queensland headquarters on your ABR record.[2] Closes 5pm, 23 April 2027, or earlier if the money runs out.[2]
Shared security grants. $20,000 to $200,000 for competitive projects that protect at least two small businesses, such as a shopping strip, industrial estate or shared yard. Businesses or property owners and managers can lead. 50% contribution. Closes 5pm, 29 January 2027.[3]
Opening soon
The Construction Business Advancement Grant is listed as opening soon, date to be confirmed.[1] No guidelines or amounts have been published on the schedule. The program began as a 2024 election commitment of $5,000 grants towards management software for small construction businesses,[4] but treat any figure you see as indicative until Business Queensland publishes the rules, and don't buy software in the hope of claiming it back.
Closed to new applications
- Regional Business Gateways, Round 1: assessment underway, with outcomes due mid-November 2026.[1]
- Business Growth Fund, Round 7: funded projects underway, to be completed by 30 November 2027.[1]
- Secure Communities Partnership Program, Rounds 1 and 2: in delivery or acquittal.[1] Businesses funded in an earlier round can't apply again under Round 3.[2]
- Business Boost and Business Basics: closed, with no successor announced. Their old pages still rank in search, which is why they keep turning up as though you could apply.
What to do now
- If you have premises, vehicles or equipment worth protecting, the security grants are the only Queensland small business grant you can apply for today. Get itemised quotes, read the guidelines, and apply early.
- Check the Queensland schedule directly rather than relying on third-party lists, which lag badly.[1]
- Look federally as well. The Australian Government's grants finder covers programs Queensland businesses can access, on their own timetable.[5]
- Keep your evidence pack current: ABN and GST details, last year's turnover, financial statements and quotes. Queensland rounds often open with little warning.
One administrative note
Queensland small business grants are now administered through business.qld.gov.au. Older departmental links redirect, and third-party articles still pointing to them are a good sign the information is out of date.
