What happened to Business Boost and Business Basics
- Business Boost is closed to applications. Round 4 is at the project acquittal stage, with the program listed as completing on 31 August 2026.
- Business Basics is also closed, with Round 6 recipients already notified.
- No successor has been announced for either. Their pages are still live and still rank well in search, which is why they keep turning up as though you could apply today.
Business Growth Fund
Round 7 closed its registration-of-interest stage at 5pm on 30 January 2026 and is now in delivery, with funded projects to be completed by 30 November 2027. It is not open to new applications.
What is flagged as opening
Two entries sit on the schedule as opening soon, both with dates to be confirmed: the Construction Business Advancement Grant, and Round 3 of the Secure Communities Partnership Program for small business. No eligibility detail or funding amount has been published for the construction grant, so treat any figure you see quoted elsewhere with suspicion until guidelines appear.
What to do while nothing is open
- Check the Queensland grants schedule directly rather than relying on third-party lists, which lag badly.
- Look federally as well. The Australian Government grants finder covers programs Queensland businesses can access, and those rounds run on their own timetable.
- Assemble your evidence pack now: quotes, financial statements, project scope, ABN and trading history. Queensland rounds often open with short application windows.
- Consider whether a rebate, an incentive or a procurement opportunity fits your situation better than a grant.
One administrative note
Queensland small business grants are no longer administered by DESBT. Use business.qld.gov.au as the authoritative source; older departmental links now redirect, and older third-party articles pointing at them are a good sign the article is out of date.
