First, the good news most new businesses don't get: the company has been registered with an ABN and GST for eighteen months. That matters, because the grants that exclude younger businesses on trading history are ones they'll clear the moment a round reopens.
Right now, none of Queensland's general cash grants for small business are open. So today the money is in the construction-specific pipeline, training subsidies, hiring incentives and tax settings. Two grants are worth watching closely, and one of them was practically written for a plastering company.
The program name is sitting on the official grants schedule marked “opening soon”. No guidelines published yet, but it's as close to a bullseye as it gets. Being ready in week one matters, because Queensland grants routinely exhaust their funding early. We flag it the day it opens.
01 — For your accountant: the $20,000 instant asset write-off is permanent from 1 July 2026. Worth asking them how it applies before you buy tools or gear. We flag tax items like this; we don't give tax advice. (This one's shown in full so you can judge the quality.)
02 — an industry fund that pays 75–100% of course costs for building-industry workers: tickets, licences, and the qualification pathway. The current funding window closes date.
03 — program: five hours of one-on-one digital advice for $110.
01 — program: $10,000–$16,000 for a first-ever apprentice, with plastering qualifications named on the eligible list. Capped statewide, first come, first served, open now.
02 — program: up to $10,000 to the apprentice and $5,000 to the employer.
